Welcome to the Zerofuchs web page!

Hello there! My name is Ziggy Fuchs.

I'm a devops engineer from Cape Town, and this is my little code corner.

Manifesto

About Me & My Work

I'm a fulltime devops engineer with a side passion for sysadmin. I build tools to make the life of myself or developers easier. My work is heavily influenced by the aesthetics of the 80s and 90s, particularly the retro computing era.

I have slowly but surely come to detest complexity and bloat in software today, as well as the monetisation creep and IP skulduggery of modern large corporations. I'm a full on FOSS enthusiast, all my code is free to use and modify. I believe AI and current Language Models are powerful tools and potentially an entire new frontier of human-computer interaction - but the risks must be carefully managed.

In my spare time I play retro and modern video games, I am a fan of DOOM but also greatly enjoy Star Citizen despite it's rep. I've been an avid reader although most of what I read these days is code, documents or the random things you find on the internet.

I frequently code or host software stacks for friends and family, and I love to tinker with new technologies. I also enjoy writing, and have been known to dabble in poetry and short stories. And as a distant aside, I've poked around with digital art and some forgettable music projects.
